HUBERT TEMBA: Music
Barbados
I was in London, England and I heard this song BARBADOS on the radio. It had been number one song in the past before I got to London. But I liked the synthesizers on that song. When I was working on my masters degree in journalism and mass communciation, I was being chased by this beautiful blonde lady police officer SHAWN. I would be doing janitorial work waxing SAVE U MORE GROCERY store floors in Ames, Iowa at 3:30 in the mornig and SHAWN would show up just to see me even when I would run away from here and avoid her as much as I could. Then I went home and after sleeping till 2pm CST one day, I penned BARBADOS. This song was written because of Shawn Phipps once with Ames Police Deaprtment, Ames, Iowa, USA.
When I said goodbye to Shawn on my way to Minneapolis, Shawn was very sad. She stood outside the doorway to the offices of Ames Police Department and showed her sadness as if one of her treasures was leaving for the war in Iraq or to fight the Alqaeda in Pakistan and Afghanistan.
With compositions and copyrights there is no one who owns exclusive rights to a word. That is why there are several song titles called LADY. So I called my song BARBADOS because no one has exclusive to the use of that name. The rest is history. This song has given me lots and lots of royalties. May this trend continue forever.
